fine arts, founded in 1976, is an art college with a contemporary focus on the traditions and history of representational art. Students may pursue Bachelor of Fine Art and post Baccalaureate degrees, as well as three-year
certificate programs. Lyme
Academy, located on 47 acres overlooking the Lieutenant River, is only two hours from New York or
Boston and within close proximity to the Long Island Sound.
Majors at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts include painting, sculpture, and illustration. There are approximately 180 students enrolled at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. All of the studio faculty members of the college are professional artists. The student to faculty ratio is about 14 to one, and more than 95 percent of Lyme's classes have fewer than 20 students.
There is no formal on-campus housing. Housing options range from renting a room in a family home, an apartment over a garage, or one of the seasonal beach rentals that are located only ten minutes from the college.
