Marion Military Institute

1101 Washington Street
Marlon, AL 36756

Tracing its history back to the founding of Howard College in 1842, Marion Military Institute wasn't officially created until 1887. Today, as a member of the Alabama community college System, Marion Military Institute serves students by preparing for both civilian careers and service in the military.

As one of the nation's five military junior colleges, this Alabama college provides students with a variety of military training programs to prepare them for the different opportunities within the field. For example, while the Early Commissioning Program (ECP) will allow students to earn a commission as Second Lieutenants after graduation, the Service Academy Preparation Program (SAP) is a one-year program that preps students for entry into a service school like West Point or the Air Force Academy.

Students who do not wish to pursue military careers may instead opt for the Basic Cadet Program (BCP). Although it requires no military obligation, the program still provides students with a rigorous academic experience. During their time at the school, all students will benefit from the student-faculty ratio of 18 to one.
