Originally founded in 1872 as an Academy for young women, Maryville University is now a coeducational institution and one of the oldest private colleges in and around St. Louis. Maryville University is known today as a community-oriented liberal arts school committed to integrating professional learning and experience into courses of study.

Maryville University is considered a diverse, people-oriented campus that puts great emphasis on the importance of personal growth and responsible interaction.
