Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia, founded in 1984, is located in a modern 6,500 square foot facility and prepares graduates for work in touch therapy professions. Upon graduation students receive diplomas.

In order to complete training, students at MACP must take 702 hours of massage therapy or 600 hours of whole health Shiatsu. massage therapy graduates qualify to take The National Certification Exam administered by The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and bodywork. Graduates of the Shiatsu diploma program qualify to take the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and oriental medicine Asian Bodywork Therapy exam.

This type of study prepares practitioners for positions assisting clients in stress management, injury prevention and recovery, and well-being maintenance. Many practitioners work in group practice or private practice in a physician's office or hospital, with sports teams, at spas, in resorts, hotels, at gyms, on cruise ships, and at a chiropractic office.
