The Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. founded in 1999, offers individuals accredited training in
massage therapy and related continuing education courses. The Maryland
Massage School is located in a 2,000 square foot facility in downtown Catonsville just outside Baltimore city and consists of two large open classrooms and practice areas equipped with audio visual equipment and a full range of demo equipment. Multiple smaller adjoining rooms provide additional private practice spaces and provide a clinical-style setting for individual instruction.
The Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. requires students to dedicate 500 hours in order to complete the Professional
massage therapy Program. Flexible schedules include day, evening and weekend classes. A candidate for becoming a massage therapist must pass an exam given by the National Certification Board for
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and a jurisprudence exam give by the Maryland
massage therapy Advisory Committee. It takes about two to three months after graduation from school to complete the credentialing process.
Students can find employment at private health clubs, day spas and resorts, beauty salons, corporations, and stress reduction/relaxation centers. Students may also find many other opportunities in
health care working in association with other health practitioners such as chiropractors, medical doctors, dentists, physical therapists, and psychologists.

Students are eligible to receive financial aid from the State of Maryland through the Legislative Scholarships, the Workforce Investment Act and the Maryland Division of Rehabilitative Services.
National certification lasts for four years from the date of a student's last renewal and the state credentialing runs until October 31 of even numbered years.
