Med-Assist School of Hawaii, a provider of health
education, has been teaching
medical assistants since 1974. The
medical assistant program consists of seven phases and takes nine months to complete.
Classes at the Hawaiian
medical assistant school are available both day and evening. Students at Med-Assist participate in comprehensive lab and clinical classes. They learn to take vital signs, read EKG machines, take blood pressures, give injections, draw blood and analyze it under the microscope. Graduates from the Med-Assist School of Hawaii fill a variety of entry-level positions in
nursing homes, home health agencies, physician's offices, hospitals, and
health care related volunteer agencies.
Med-Assist requires students to participate in an externship program in the last five weeks of the program. Students get hands on experience in one of over 150 approved externship sites in doctor's offices, clinics, small private family practices, and all the major hospitals and clinics across Oahu.
