Miami International University of Art & Design has a very diverse student body with student ages ranging from 17 to 70, from 60 countries, 50 states and six U.S. territories. In fall 2005, almost 1, 500 students were enrolled.
The university is located in the heart of Miami's up and coming Arts and Entertainment District. Students have the opportunity to work for major corporations, hear acclaimed speakers, and volunteer. They can also enjoy the amenities of a major city through sporting events, concerts, theaters, restaurants, and a vibrant social scene.
Financial assistance is available through federal, state and other financial aid programs. Scholarships awarding students for their academic achievements include The Art Institutes Scholarship Competition, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Skills USA Championships, National Art Honor Society Scholarship, Scholastics Arts Competition, Technology Student Association Competition, New York City Public School Scholarship Competition, Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship, Passion for Fashion, and The Miami International University of Art & Design Merit Award.
Throughout the academic year, the Office of Student Affairs organizes events including dances, parties, special meals, "lunch and learn" sessions, and off-campus trips to enrich the student's campus life.
Miami International University of Art & Design is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Bachelor of Fine Arts program is accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education & Research.
