Berkley, Michigan

From downtown Berkley, Michigan School of Myomassology offers a 650 hour mymassology diploma program to prepare for the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage & bodywork (NCTMB). The school also offers over 600 hours in advanced continuing education and a master level Medical Massage program that prepares student to take the National Medical Massage Certification Examination. This certification helps students gain acceptance by the medical community and insurance companies as health care professionals.

Created in 1993 by Thomas King, the Michigan Institute of Myomassology was renamed The Michigan school of Myomassology (MSM) in 1997 after Director Marilyn Rotko purchased the Institute and merged it with her private practice, A Therapeutic Touch. She changed the program from 500 hours to 650 and instituted payment plans to improve the quality of education. MSM offers an education with a foundation of European and Swedish massage with orthopedic and esoteric techniques added. The school uses small classes, personal instruction, and hands-on practice to give students a well-rounded education with background coursework in anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology, as well as basic, medical and therapeutic techniques. The school emphasizes knowledge of the human body as well as learning to understand the mind and spirit of future clients.

MSM is approved by Michigan Dept of Labor & Economic Growth and gained national accreditation by the Council Overseeing Medical & massage therapy Accreditation in 2003. Sallie Mae Direct Student Loans are available to qualified students and MSM has an in-house payment plan catered for the convenience of students.
