Mid -America Christian university was founded in 1953 as the South Texas Bible Institute in Houston, Texas, with a pioneering class of 26 students. In 1966, the college became an associate member of the American Association of Bible Colleges, was granted full membership two years later, and received regional accreditation in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Once the college moved to its present location, it became Mid-America Bible College. In 2003, due to immense growth including offering degrees internationally, the college changed its name to Mid-America Christian University to reflect the expansion. The university educates students through a Christian faith-based curriculum.

Mid -America Christian University offers more than 25 areas of study leading to associate, bachelor's and master's degrees. All of the Mid-America degrees require Bible courses, which help students gain a better understanding of Christian faith and they learn how to relate these teachings to their future professions. The university also offers adult continuing education programs through the College of Adult and Graduate Studies. Programs are offered in Behavioral Science and Ethics, Management and Ethics, Teacher Education, Criminal Justice Management and Ethics, Management Information Systems and Ethics, and online courses and programs.

  • MACU students can participate in intramural sports including flag football, soccer, volleyball, softball, basketball, and pool as well as social activities and events which include coffeehouse socials with karaoke, an evening masquerade, a trip to Dallas to Six Flags, and Texas Rangers baseball.
