Mid-Continent University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, conferring associate and bachelor's degrees, including a Bachelor of Ministry degree through programs in the Baptist college of Arts and Sciences. The seven divisions at the Baptist College of Arts and Sciences include Mathematics; Language and General Studies; Social Studies; Teacher Education; business Management; and Behavioral Studies.

Mid-Continent University students interested in careers in ministry can pursue programs at the university's Dr. James W. Cecil Baptist College of the Bible. The Baptist College of the Bible prepares Christ-centered leaders to presume roles in the church by educating students with the values, knowledge, and skills needed to fulfill their future roles in Ministry. The Baptist College offers majors and minors in the Biblical Studies, Church Leadership Development, and Evangelism and Missions.

Spiritual Emphasis Week and Student Development Impact Week take place during the spring semester and include guest speakers and events to allow spiritual growth and development in MCU students. The Ministerial Student Association provides fellowship, support, and skill enhancement to those planning careers in ministry.

Mid-Continent University students can participate in athletics on campus with a choice of men's basketball, baseball and soccer and women's volleyball, softball, basketball and spirit squad.

The university is ranked one of only two private colleges offering affordable education in Kentucky.
