Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Aerospace offers a variety of programs and graduate workshops for aspiring Aviation professionals. The five program concentrations offered at MTSU Aerospace include aerospace technology, flight dispatch and scheduling, professional pilot, aviation maintenance, and aerospace administration. Each of concentrations prepares graduate for specific careers in the aerospace industry. Since 1992, all five of MTSU Aerospace concentrations have been nationally accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI).

The school offers special Advanced Standing programs as well as special programs in Maintenance Management Advanced Standing, Air Traffic Control Training and Aircraft Maintenance Training. MTSU Aerospace also offers a minor that requires 18 semester hours that may emphasize administrative, piloting, or technical subject matter.All faculty members are recognized and respected pilots and have a specific field of specialization so that they can offer students real world and real life experience.

Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Aerospace offers financial aid and more than $20,000 in scholarships. Students can take part in organizations in aerospace such asa Alpha Eta Rho, an international aviation fraternity (co-ed), Flying Raiders, an intercollegiate competitive flight team, AERO Maintenance Club of MTSU, aircraft maintenance organization, Future Airport Executives (FAE), student chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives, and Women in Aviation student chapter of Women in Aviation International.

  • The school has been accepted into the Federal Aviation Administration's Collegiate Training Initiative which allows any MTSU Aerospace student to be recommended to the FAA for the final segment of Air Traffic Controller Training and hiring.

  • In Fall of 2002, MTSU purchased 25 planes from Diamond Aircraft and The New Piper Aircraft Inc. for student training and practice. The purchase cost $4.8 million.

  • By offering concentrations in administration, maintenance management, professional pilot, technology and flight dispatch scheduling, MTSU is one of the few full-service aerospace programs in the country.

  • FedEx donated a Boeing 727 to the school for student use.
