Middle Tennessee State University

was founded in 1911 as one of three schools for teaching. It became State Teachers College in 1925, State College in 1943, and a university in 1965. The seven university colleges include Basic and Applied Sciences;
business, Education and Behavioral Sciences; Honors;
liberal arts; Mass Communication; and Graduate Studies. Bachelor's degrees are offered in Arts,
business Administration, Fine Arts, Music, Science, and Science in
nursing, Social Work, and University Studies. The College of Graduate Studies confers master's degrees, doctoral degrees, and the Specialist in Education degree.
