Established in 1975, Midland community college's (MCC) scenic campus is oftentimes cited as one of the most beautiful two-year college campuses in the nation. The school offers a wide array of technical, occupational, and liberal arts degree and diploma programs to students from across Texas. Students will find 50+ associate degree and 50+ certificate options on campus as well as internet-based distance education courses and an extensive continuing education department. For students looking to transfer to a four-year institution, Midland Community College maintains articulation agreements with Angelo State University, Howard Payne University, Lubbock Christian University, Sul Ross State University, Texas Tech University Health Science Center, and The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, allowing MCC students to earn a bachelor's degree without ever leaving Midland campus.

The school prides itself on providing an affordable education to students from a variety of educational and economic backgrounds. Attending Midland Community College as a freshman or sophomore is approximately one-third the cost of other Texas four-year public institutions and each year the school provides approximately $7.5 million in financial aid to motivated learners. Additionally the school also offers several free education options including no-cost GED preparation courses, English as a Second Language courses, personal business counseling. Through Midland Community College's dual enrollment program, high school students can get a jump on their education before turning the tassel.

In addition to serving the educational needs of the community, Midland Community College serves the community's social needs too. Each year the school plays host to several athletic and enrichment camps for young learners. Midland also hosts free concerts, artistic performances, recitals, and student art exhibits each year. Midland Community College's Al G. Langford Chaparral Center is the largest public facility in town and has hosted over 3.5 million people at over 2,300 events, including concerts, trade shows, and sporting events.
