Technical College traces its history back to 1974, the year when three South Carolina vocational schools combined to create it. Now standing as one of the largest community colleges in the state, Midlands
Technical College serves about 15,000 students a year across five campuses and a continuing education center in Fort Jackson.
Students who attend this South Carolina community college will find more than 100 certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs to choose from. Thanks to various articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities throughout the state, students who opt to earn the associate in science or associate of arts degree are more easily able to transfer into a traditional bachelor's program.
In addition, certain individual programs within this South Carolina community college have received accreditation from outside organizations. For example, the Association of Collegiate
business Schools and Programs, the National League for
nursing Accrediting Commission, and the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, have all expressed approval for Midlands
technical College programs that pertain to their fields.
