From its Illinois location, Midwest Institute of Nail Technology (MINT) offers comprehensive training programs for individuals to become professional nail technicians. They offer a 350-hour nail technician course and a 500-hour and 625-hour nail technology teacher course for a licensed nail technician. All programs at MINT feature a modern method of instruction that balances design theory with practical skills and an emphasis on artistry. MINT strives to give their students the technical skills, professional ethics and creative knowledge to work in lucrative positions in the industry. MINT also offers continuing education programs for licensed cosmetologists and nail technicians who want to upgrade their skills.

In basic training, students study state licensing regulations, history of nail care, health and ethics standards, as well as sanitation, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Anatomy,and Diseases and Disorders of the Skin and the Nail. Students also study related concepts such as massage and people skills as well as study of the cells and metabolism. A students education is rounded out with coursework in business practices and salon practices and procedures. Students must pass clinical hours after completing their standard hours of theory. Students keep their own schedules and work at their own pace.

Course tuition includes a professional technician kit, textbooks, and study guides. Students must submit a deposit and signed application to guarantee a seat in class and MINT offers partial payment plans to help students ease financial burdens. Classes meet mornings as well as evening and weekends and students can alternate classes depending on each individual's schedule. The school offers job placement programs after graduation.
