Midwestern State University is a
liberal arts university founded in 1922 as Wichita Falls
junior college. The university moved to its current location in 1937 and achieved senior status in 1950. The campus is located in the residential area of Wichita Falls, Texas, two hours from Oklahoma City and Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Midwestern State University's architecture is praised for its red brick, tile roofs and beautiful arches.
Midwestern State University's undergraduate and graduate degree programs are available through several of Midwestern State's colleges including Dillard College of
business Administration, Fain College of Fine Arts, Health Sciences and Human Services, Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences and Mathematics, West College of Education, and Graduate Studies. Additional programs of study are available through the Honors Programs, International Education, Extended Education, and Pre-Professional.

Midwestern State has eight NCAA Division II athletic teams and students can participate in men's football, basketball, golf, and tennis and women's volleyball, soccer, basketball, cross country, and tennis. Cycling and weight lifting are available as club sports and there are a variety of intramural sports.
Midwestern State University has an assortment of non-degree areas of study including Air Force ROTC, Athletic Trainer Certification, Broadcast Journalism, engineering Drawing, French, German, Journalism, Philosophy, Public Relations, Speech Communication and Statistics.
Special Programs at Midwestern State University are the Intensive English Language Institute, Spectrum, and Upward Bound. The Intensive English Language Institute provides English instruction and support services for non-native English speakers. Spectrum is a four-week scholarship program for high school students who are academically talented. Students attend courses during the summer with current Midwestern State University students and earn university credit. High achieving Spectrum students automatically qualify for scholarship through the program upon graduation. Upward Bound takes economically disadvantaged high school students and helps improve their academic skills in preparation for college.
