The
Aviation program at Minnesota State is designed to prepare students for positions in the air transportation industry including airline operations and management, corporate aviation, airport management, and government operations. Bachelor of Science in Aviation degrees are offered with concentrations in either Professional Flight or Aviation Management. MSU's aviation department is follows the principles of the Council on Aviation Accreditation and the University Aviation Association. North Star Aviation provides MSU's
flight training at the Mankato Regional airport where students gain an
education in "state of the art" glass cockpit technology.
The professional flight programs focus on honing a student's skills toward flight instructor proficiency coupled with an emphasis on multi-engine training. Aviation management graduates are prepared for careers through an education of
business foundations and technical and academic courses in aviation. Internship opportunities are offered with major and regional airlines.
For admission, students have a minimum of 32 earned semester credit hours and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. The program has many clubs such as Alpha Eta Rho, Aviation Club, Flight Team and Women in Aviation. MSU-Aviation also conducts Major Research projects in aviation, aeronautics, and aerospace.

Students may begin Flight training and enroll in 100/200 level aviation courses before gaining admission to the major.

Mesaba Airlines and Minnesota State University have a partnership for a 'bridge' program that provides a streamlined selection process for students to become
future Mesaba Airlines pilots.
