From four location in North Carolina, Mitchell's Academy offers three courses in the beauty industry related fields; Cosmetology, esthetics and manicure. Campuses are located in the Raleigh/Cary area, Greenville, Goldsboro, and Wilson. The school is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of cosmetology 
and licensed by the North Carolina State Board of cosmetology.

The 1500-hour cosmetology course, 600-hour Esthetics course, and 300-hour Manicure course consist of theory classes, technical training, and hands-on instruction with supervised practical experience. Students are prepared for the state licensing exam, which is required by the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts and Sciences in order to work as a professionals in the beauty industry in North Carolina.

Faculty at Mitchell's are lead by Educational Director Ron Hawkins who is an international trainer throughout the world and works with the USA World Team. Faculty seek to reach out to every student to teach them marketable skills through a combination of quality classroom instruction and practical experience. Students are taught to develop both the technical skills of cosmetology and the non-technical skills of a successful business such as enthusiasm, attitude and perseverance.

For admission, individuals must have a high school diploma or GED, pass a comprehensive admissions test and have a personal interview with a school representative during which each applicant's career preferences and individual motivation are discussed.

Educational Director, Ron Hawkins has been a stylist since the age of 14 and won over 150 styling awards and honors. He was also inducted into the National Cosmetology Hall of Fame.

The four goals for students at Mitchell's are to reach, teach, win, and develop.

Students in the Cosmetology program gain knowledge of hair styling, cutting, shaping, coloring, permanent waving, finger waving, and facial treatments as well as an overview of salon management, appointment scheduling, and the laws and guidelines of the salon business in North Carolina.

Mitchell's Hair Styling Academy offers is authorized to participate in federal and state financial aid programs through the college's admission office.

At the HairWorld competition, 12 of Ron Hawkin's team members have placed in the top 10 at the finals.
