Mitsu Sato Hair Academy, a Kansas-based beauty school, offers a strong technical Cosmetology program covering all aspects of hair artistry with a focus on current styles, color trends, and current fashion trends. The school takes a non-traditional approach to cosmetology and supports a multicultural approach to cover all aspects of hair artistry.

The school has a unique approach to hair cutting called the "Clock Metric" method. Students gain knowledge in the technical and creative basis of hair services through a curriculum involving 10 forms of haircuts from classic to trendy. Coursework includes all hair cutting forms including scissors, free hand, razor, and clippers as well as training in texture services and special occasion styles for Bridal and Prom clients. Training in color skills involves formulation, application and creative techniques.

Unlike the vast majority of cosmetology schools that focus solely on preparing students to obtain their cosmetology licenses, Mitsu Sato Hair Academy places as much importance on learning the most current techniques and artistic approaches to hairdressing as passing the exam for their cosmetology licenses. Students are encouraged to approach hairdressing as an art form. The curriculum is intended to produce elite hairstylists who not only receive their cosmetology licenses but learn the latest and most creative approach to color and cut.

Students attend beauty industry shows in Chicago, St. Louis, and Los Angeles and participate in student competition with editorial photo shoots in order to build their portfolio and resume. The Hair Academy also offers help with job placement after graduation.

Mitsu Sato began his career with Vidal Sassoon Salon, has over 32 years of experience, and has traveled to Italy, England, Japan and throughout the U.S. to share his unique skills.

The interior of the school simulates a salon atmosphere where students are taught the techniques and skills needed to pass the state requirements.

After graduation, the Academy offers the possibility of immediate job placement at the New Talent program at Mitsu Sato Salon and advanced training while employed.





Students at the Hair Academy gain experience through involvement in fashion shows in the Overland Park area.
