Modern Welding School is a private trade school offering training in welding
technology since 1936. The school offers industry training programs, a 7-month career welding programs, and hobby welding workshops. Modern Welding School is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of
career schools and Colleges of Technology, licensed by the New York State
education Department
and approved by the N.Y.S. Division of Veterans Affairs for Training of Veterans
Institutional Membership in the
American Welding Society.
They custom design programs to meet each company needs and offer flexible training schedules. The Schenectady, New York facility offers certification testing, hands-on training, one-on-one, and classroom programs including TIG and MIG welding. All instructors are licensed by New York State.
Charles R. Richter founded the school in order to provide a faster and more efficient way of
teaching welding. After being sold to its present owner in 1981, the school has added more programs to its curriculum in order to stay current with the ever changing field of welding. In 1995, the school moved to it's present location in Schenectady, New York. Since its inception, the school has sought to train highly-skilled welders in a state-of-the-art environment where both student and staff are prepared to meet the changing needs of the welding industry.

President Dana Gillenwalters is an instructor in all courses.
Modern Welding Schoo's hobby welding workshops are for restoration, artists, car body enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to learn welding for non-work related purposes.
The school also offers on-site, one-day O.S.H.A. Compliant Seminars to industry professionals.
