Montgomery
community college's history traces back to Montgomery Technical Institute, which was created in 1967 by the State Board of Education. Over the years the school would develop, increase its course offerings, and change its name to what its known as today, Montgomery
Community College.
Originally offering technical programs, adult basic education, and adult
high school diploma programs in the late 60s, this North Carolina
Community College has developed to offer students certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees in a wide array of subjects and disciplines. In addition, the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree programs at Montgomery Community College, have been created so as to parallel the first two years of a traditional bachelor's degree program, allowing for easier transfer into a four-year college or university.
Today, Montgomery Community College boasts a 153-acre campus and about 125,000 square feet in building space. The latest addition to the campus -- the
business, Industry, Technology Resource Center -- is home to an electronic library, classrooms, and an interactive classroom that allows students and teachers to transmit real-time data and media.
