Moravian College is one of the sixth oldest American colleges. The liberal arts college was founded in 1742 by followers of John Amos Comenius, a 17th century Moravian bishop whose ideas helped shape modern education. He believed that learning should be available to all, teaching should be in accord with human nature, and that education should be applied to practical uses.

Moravian College is dedicated to furnishing a solid basic curriculum, which creates a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning. The Holistic Curriculum, Learning in Common and the Freshman Experience give undergraduates the skills needed to have a successful, well-rounded, and individualized academic experiences. Other opportunities are available through Moravian's special programs including Honors Program, SOAR, special topic courses and off-campus activities.

Moravian College offers areas of study leading to three baccalaureate degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Music in the departments of Art, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Economics and business, Education, English, Environmental Studies, Foreign Languages, History, International Studies(minor only), Mathematics and Computer Science, Music, Neuroscience, nursing, Philosophy, religion, Sociology, and Women's Studies (minor only).
