school of medicine was established in 1975 at
Morehouse College and became independent from its founding institution in 1981. MSM is currently a member of a consortium of five Historically Black Colleges and Universities -- the Atlanta University Center Consortium, Inc.
This Georgia
medical school has a mission to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities, with a particular emphasis on people of color and underserved urban and rural populations. They address primary
healthcare needs through their academic, research, and service programs.
The major teaching site for Morehouse School of Medicine students and residents is the internationally recognized teaching hospital, Grady
Memorial Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals in the Southeast with a historic commitment to the needs of the most vulnerable individuals.

Morehouse School of Medicine offers seven residency programs including family medicine, community health and preventive medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, surgery, and pediatrics.
Morehouse School of Medicine is home to nationally recognized research centers and institutes such as the National Center for Primary Care, the Neuroscience Institute, the Cardiovascular Research Institute, and the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities.
Nearly 70 percent of Morehouse School of Medicine graduates have chosen the field of primary care since 1994.
This Georgia medical school awards master's degrees in public health as well as clinical research, the Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, and the M.D.
