Morningside is a private, four-year, co-educational college, founded in 1894 by the Methodist Episcopal Church. This beautiful, scenic campus located in the residential area of Sioux City, Iowa spans 68 acres and has 21 buildings. Most of the campus and Grace United Methodist Church are a part of the Morningside Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places.
Morningside prepares students to be flexible in thought, open in attitude and confident, through a curriculum rooted in a strong
liberal arts tradition. The college offers a wide selection of undergraduate majors, minors, and graduate programs in the departments of Art, Biology and Chemistry,
business Administration and Economics, Education, English, History and Political Science, Interdisciplinary Studies, Pre-Professional, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Theatre and Dance.
Morningside College also has an Interdepartmental Honors Program open to qualified students by invitation. The program allows students and faculty, from a range of disciplines, to meet weekly to discuss specific works and themes regarding the development of civilization. The Honors groups vary from first-year students to seniors, who meet over several semesters to discuss the ideas that shaped history from the ancient world to the future.

Morningside offers a number of ways for student to get involved on campus by participating in student organizations including Acacia Fraternity, ACM, Alpha Omicron, Art Club, Beta Beta Beta, Campus Ministries, Creative Edge Ad Club, The Collegian Reporter, Collegiate Music Educators, Games Club, Gay Straight Alliance, IA State Education Association, International Students Association, Kappa Delta Pi, MCTV, Morningside Cheerleaders, Morningside Civic Union, Morningside College Choir, Morningside Dance Team and other organizations to appeal to each students individual interests. The Morningside Activities Council also plans weekend and community activities through the academic year.
Morningside College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Students can participate in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, women's volleyball, and wrestling.
