Institute of Technology is an independent, co-educational offering two-year undergraduate
engineering technology college programs. The college was founded in 1973 and first authorized by the State of Illinois to grant an Associate in Technology degree the same year. The school is currently accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, licensed by the Illinois Board of Higher Education to grant the Associate in Applied Science degree and the Design and Drafting CAD concentration is also accredited at the design/drafter level by the
American Drafting and Design Association (ADDA).
Morrison offers two areas of concentration: construction, and design and drafting. The school's mission is to provide students in the Midwest with an education in the fields of engineering technology and allied programs. The two concentrations include study in design & drafting technology, computer-aided design & drafting, surveying, building construction technology, highway construction technology, soils & materials testing, system and networking administration, and geographic information system (GIS). The curriculum includes mathematics, science, engineering technology,
humanities, and computer aided drafting and design(CAD).
Classes are offered on a semester basis during the day at the Morrison, Illinois campus. Semesters start in January and August. On campus dormitory apartments housing is available. A minimum of 65 semester hours are required for graduation. The school has modern classrooms, laboratories, and equipment where student centered faculty can adapt to the changing academic needs of the student body. The school offers free tutoring, low student to teacher ratios, and professionally licensed faculty who have experience as engineers and surveyors to meet those needs.

The college is named after its small community, Morrison, which is located in northwestern Illinois approximately 130 miles west of Chicago and 15 miles east of Clinton, Iowa and the Mississippi River.
Class sizes are small; multi-media lectures do not exceed sixty students, lecture courses have a maximum of forty students, computer laboratories have a maximum of fifteen to twenty students and all other laboratories typically have a maximum of twenty-four students.
Morrison Institute of Technology is a member of the Service members Opportunity Colleges (SOC) and recognizes credits earned by servicemen in military schools or college extension programs earned while serving their country.
The school is small with enrollment of about 200 students.
