Founded in 1995 by Anne Mascelli, the Mt. Nittany Institute offers diploma programs, workshops and classes in
massage therapy, yoga, health practitioning,
bodywork, reflexology and mind/body/fitness training. Mt. Nittany operates as a holistic learning center and is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, is an institutional member of the Associated Body-work and Massage Professionals, a member of the American
massage therapy Association Council of Schools and registered with the Yoga Alliance. Graduates are eligible to apply for the National Certification Exam (NCE) through the NCBTMB.
Diploma programs include a 775-hour Massage Therapist Training Program, a 185-hour Massage Practitioner Training Program, a 165-hour Reflexology Training Program, a 250-hour Holistic Health Practitioner Training, a 250-hour Yoga Teacher Training program and a 775-hour Energy Bodywork Program. The school also offers weekend and evening workshops in topics ranging from healing stone therapy to
Reiki training. Full-time diploma programs combine theory and practical experience.
The Institute is supported by eight staff and 20 faculty member who are experienced, well-trained, and caring and operate in small, student centered classes. The school's facilities include a full self-service kitchen and dining area, library, three classrooms, and an outdoor picnic area. Resources and services offered include a natural health store, student clinic, professional healing art studio, and a graduates corner for career services and help with job placement.
Quick Facts
The Yoga Teacher Training program meets once a month for two full days, Saturday and Sunday, for a total of 12 weekends.
The mind/body/fitness training focuses on the three most common questions heard by wellness professionals, "How should I exercise? What should I eat? and How do I reduce my stress?"
The Institute offers a "Programs Discovery Day" for individuals to learn about each program and take simple classes.
The current owner and director, Anne Mascelli founded the school in 1995.
The student clinic offers low-cost full body Therapeutic Massage in a variety of styles for the public, performed by students under the supervision of experts.
