The medical office assistant program is designed to train students in managing a medical office, with medical transcribing skills. Graduates of this program can work in doctor's offices, after hours emergency offices; insurance companies; hospitals; or public or private
Medical Billing records offices. Students will learn skills in the following classes: medical terminology; word processing; Microsoft Word XP; Medisoft Computerized Office; medical office procedures; intro into machine transcription; medical transcription; externship; medical coding and insurance billing. Students in the medical coding program will learn how to bill insurance companies and how to code for medical offices. Students in this program take the following courses: medical terminology; anatomy/physiology; Medisoft; medical coding I-IV; keyboarding and students will be required to fulfill an externship.
Prospective students wishing to apply to the Nashville College of Medical Careers must be at least 17 years old when the program starts; must have a
high school diploma or GED; be in good physical health; submit the names and contact information for at least two references; complete a personal interview and a tour of the school prior to being admitted and submit one photo.
