Authorized to award associate degrees, in addition to technical and academic certificates, Nashville State
community college stands as a two-year institution dedicated to offering students the opportunities that they need to succeed in both their careers and future educations. In addition to its main campus in Nashville, this Tennessee school also runs the Cookeville Campus in Cookville, Humphreys County Center for Higher Education in Waverly, the Southeast Center in Nashville, and (the in-development) Dickson County Higher Learning Center Site in Dickson.
Although this Tennessee college first opened its doors in 1970 with only five associate degree programs to offer students, it has since grown to provide nearly 50 different degree programs and a dozen certificate programs. With courses ranging from associate degree programs in sign language interpreting, the
Culinary Arts,
business management, and biotechnology, to academic and technical certificates in horticulture, music technology,
photography, and surgical assisting, there's sure to be something for most anybody's career and educational needs.

For example, the Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees are available to students who plan to transfer to traditional four-year degree-granting colleges and universities.

Nashville State Community College's distance education programs are delivered via the Internet, CD-ROM courses, and videos; both degree and certificate programs are offered.
Students at this Tennessee college participate in such activities as NSCC Debate Club, Students for the Environment, Early Childhood Education Club, and the International Student Association.
