beauty school that trains people with career goals in
Cosmetology and esthetics. The National Academy of Beauty Arts is one of the oldest, accredited beauty schools in St. Louis. Founded in 1961, the National Academy of Beauty Arts was accredited seven years later. The National Academy of Beauty Arts was established by Donna and Barry Schaefer and is still family owned and operated by Gary; as well as Mary Short, a woman with over two decades experience at the National Academy of Beauty Arts.
The National Academy of Beauty Arts seeks to provide each student with a well-rounded education that will prepare them for a career in beauty anywhere in the United States. Beauty is nearly a recession proof career, hair and nails always grow and there is always a need for skilled beauticians. The National Academy of Beauty Arts teaches two different beauty school modules:
cosmetology and esthetics. In
The Cosmetology School, students learn the art of hair cutting, styling, coloring, permanent waving, skin care and makeup and manicuring and nail sculpture. Students wishing to earn advance diplomas may specialize in one of the following: hair styling; skin care and makeup; or permanent waving and hair coloring. The
cosmetology section is 1500 hours of study, and can be completed in as little as 38 weeks (with 40 hours a week of study).
The esthetics program at the National Academy of Beauty Arts prepares students in the latest techniques for skin care and beauty, as well as prepare students for organizing and running their own businesses. Classes include: skin physiology; deep cleansing facials; technology of microdermabrasion; stone therapy; chemistry of cosmetic ingredients; salon business; professional career development; theory of facials; chemical peels; complete body waxing; eyelash perming and coloring; product knowledge and relationship retailing.
The National Academy of Beauty Arts is located on three campuses in Missouri: St. Louis; Festus/Crystal City and in Farmington.

The National Academy of Beauty Arts is accredited by National Accrediting Commission of cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) and is recognized by the United States Department of Education, as well as the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology. The National Academy of Beauty Arts is also a member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools ( AACS) and the Missouri Association of Cosmetology Schools (MACS).
