The National Institute of Massotherapy is a
massage therapy school headquartered in Akron, Ohio and another location near Cleveland. Founded in 1991 by Stephen Perkinson, the National Institute of Massotherapy strives to provide people who are striving for a career in
massage therapy an education that blends ancient techniques with new theories. The National Institute of Massotherapy education blends mind, body and spirit. Successful candidates for the programs at the National Institute of Massotherapy include people who possess an aptitude for working with the body; an ability to apply theory to practice; a commitment and ability to work with people in a responsible, professional and ethical manner and the ability to be self-motivated, to undertake self-directed work and to exercise good judgment.
The National Institute of Massotherapy offers two programs: The
massage therapy diploma program can be completed in 11 to 14 months, depending on when the student begins the program. The
massage therapy diploma program is over 65 hours and includes classroom instruction and hands-on application. The Associate of Applied Science in Clinical
massage therapy program is a 90-hour credit program and can be completed in 18-21 months. Full time, as well as part-time classes are available.
Potential students applying to the National Institute of Massotherapy must have a
high school diploma or GED; must complete a successful interview with staff; provide a certificate of good health and demonstrate a proficiency in English. Financial aid is available through a variety of sources including federal student loans and grants, scholarships, no interest financing through the National Institute of Massotherapy; Veteran's Administration, or the Workforce Investment Act. For people commuting to the school there is parking available.
