The National Pilot Academy is certified under the Federal Aviation Administration, with programs that prepare students for careers in a number of aviation-related fields. On average, it takes two to four years to achieve Certified Flight Instructor status, with another four years necessary to become an employable pilot. The National Pilot Academy's accelerated training program allows students to become Certified Flight Instructors much more quickly. A Private Pilot License can be earned in eight months in some cases. Students are taught by licensed instructors who are qualified to give both flight and ground instruction. In most pilot programs, instructors tend to several students at once. But for each phase of training, students attending the National Pilot Academy learn from a dedicated instructor and receives a high level of personal attention.

There are seven National Pilot Academy locations: Cedar City, Utah; Tucson, Arizona; Carson City and Las Vegas, Nevada; and Jacksonville, Lakeland and Melbourne, Florida.
