Wesleyan University is a private, four-year
liberal arts college, located in Lincoln, Nebraska's historic University Place neighborhood. The university was founded in 1887 by Methodists, to provide a
liberal arts education in a
Christian environment.
Nebraska Wesleyan University offers more than 49 majors, 14 pre-professional programs, and three master's degree programs. Undergraduate degrees can be pursued in the departments of art, biology,
business, accounting and economics, chemistry, communication and theatre arts, education, English, health and human performances, health sciences, history, mathematics and computer science, modern languages, music; physics, political sciences, psychology, religion and philosophy, and sociology-anthropology-social work. The university also offers two interdisciplinary departments of gender studies and global studies, and an undergraduate pre-professional program in forensic science.

Students have been the recipients of the Rhodes Scholarship, Fulbright Grants, Goldwater Scholarships, National Security Exchange Program Scholarship, Rotary Scholarship, Truman Scholarships, Udall Scholarships, Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship, Critical Language Scholarship, NOAA Hollings Scholarship and the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The faculty has won awards and honors including, three Carnegie Nebraska Professor of the Year awards since 2001, Fulbright Scholarships to China, Korea, and Ukraine, Sabbatical leave for worldwide research, and are authors of many articles, journals, and books.
The athletic teams are affiliated with the Great Plains Athletic Conference, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III. Students can participate in varsity baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, football, men's golf, women's golf, men's track and field, women's track and field, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, volleyball, and spirit squad.
