New England School of Photography
537 Commonwealth Avenue
Boston, Massachusetts 02215
Founded in 1968, the New England
School of Photography continues to rank as one of the top
photography schools in the United States, establishing a reputation as a place where students uncover their personal vision and mature in technique. NESOP only enrolls approximately 150 talented students a year, ensuring small class sizes and one-on-one interaction between students and its highly regarded faculty. In addition to outstanding facilities, students enter a nurturing environment where they learn photography and tap into their creativity.
The New England School of Photography curriculum prepares students for work and to pursue additional educational opportunities through Bachelor of Fine Arts programs. The two-year photography program offers majors and minors in advertising and commercial photography, editorial and corporate photography, portraiture and wedding photography, photojournalism, digital arts, fine art color photography, documentary photography, architectural photography, fashion photography and fine art black and white photography.
Because many photographers are self-employed or work on a freelance basis, it is important that they develop solid
business skills. The New England School of Photography requires that students take
business courses, regardless of major or minor. Students learn promotion and
business management and gain the skills necessary to run a small business.
NESOP students have access to a wide range of analog and digital equipment, including more than 45 black-and-white workstations located in three large darkrooms, more than 20 individual color printing rooms, portrait studios, scanner printers, private film processing rooms, large-format cameras and a digital imaging lab with 40 imaging stations equipped with Macintosh computers, large monitors, photo printers and Wireless Internet connections.
