New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts

153 Lowell Road
Hudson, New Hampshire 03051

Established in 1983 by Drs. Robert Berube and Patrick Ian Cowan, the New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts offers 10- and 12-month massage therapy certification programs in Bridgton, Maine and Hudson, New Hampshire. But as its name implies, the New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts is more than a massage training school. It offers courses throughout the healing arts, including physical therapy, nutrition and kinesiological therapy.

NHITA students can choose to take day or evening courses, expanding their knowledge of massage, anatomy, physiology, client relations, business ethics, therapeutic sensitivity and business management. NHITA is accredited by the Commission on massage therapy Accreditation--the only independent accrediting agency for the massage therapy profession recognized by the United States Department of Education--licensed in Maine and New Hampshire and approved by the New Hampshire and Maine State Approving Agency for Veterans Education Programs for persons eligible for Veterans Benefits.

New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts students learn to practice hydrotherapy using saunas, hot and cold ice packs, sitz baths, rubs and compresses during hydrotherapy class. In addition to Swedish massage, students can learn circulatory massage, which promotes good blood circulation and eases some circulatory disorders, and sports massage, which is essential to practicing with a health spa or athletic organization and includes condition, pre- and post-event and trauma-specific techniques.
