New Mexico Junior College is a comprehensive community college, whose mission is to provide positive lifelong learning opportunities in both credit and non-credit classes. This is a New Mexico school that strives to prepare its students for new career opportunities by providing various learning experiences, vocational training, and community enrichment activities.

The staff at New Mexico Junior College recognizes the importance of a variety of collegiate experiences. Some of the activities at New Mexico Junior College include performing arts, visual arts, Student Senate, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Phi Beta Lambda business Fraternity, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, intramural programs, the Student Nurse Association, Alliance for Minority Participation in Math, Science, and engineering, and a host of intercollegiate athletics and other activities.

New Mexico Junior College offers Associate Degrees in science, applied science, and arts; in addition, several certificate programs in vocational trade areas. There are over 640 courses of study offered annually through New Mexico Junior College's two instructional sectors: Arts and Sciences and Business and Technology.
