New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics

With a curriculum derived from the teachings and philosophy of Chicago physician Dr. Henry Lindlahr, who employed natural healing practices while directing a school and sanitarium and is considered by many to be the father of natural therapeutics, the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics offers classes in natural healing.

Lindlahr's school provided the model followed by many naturopathic medical colleges and institutes, including the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics. His book Philosophy of Natural Therapeutics examines the ways in which the body heals itself and how disease can worsen when the symptoms of sickness are suppressed. The book provides the foundation of the NMSNT curriculum, which explores various techniques and modalities that support the body as it heals and rids itself of harmful, built-up waste.

NMSNT students taking courses in the Therapeutic Massage program learn various techniques: Swedish massage, myofacial therapy, sports and chair massage, pregnancy and infant massage, along with gliding, kneading, friction, percussion and vibration techniques. The improved blood and lymphatic flow brought on by these techniques help remove waste and toxins from stressed or otherwise injured body parts. Students are also taught stretching techniques to relax a client's limbs and spine. Tai Chi is also taught during the 161-hour massage training program.
