Canada
Nipissing University is a primarily undergraduate university with a reputation for excellence. Its cutting-edge facilities are set in the pristine natural setting of the Canadian Shield, providing an ideal place for researchers in biology and geography to extend their research from the university's tech-savvy labs to nature itself.
The Nipissing academic experience is rooted in the advantages offered by the university's size and sense of community. With small class sizes, accessible faculty, and undergraduate research opportunities, students have all the tools they need to succeed in a comfortable, intimate environment. But NU extends beyond campus as well, with programs such as Biidaaban; a service learning initiative, which allows students to apply knowledge and skills learned in class through work with community groups.
Nipissing's roots date back to the 1900s, when it was known as North Bay Normal School, but Nipissing University was formed in 1967 as an affiliate of
Laurentian University. It received its charter as an independent University in 1992, and now has a reputation for excellence in teacher education, arts, science,
business and
nursing, that is committed to playing a positive role in the educational, social, cultural and economic life of North Bay and Northeastern Ontario.
