Students attending Northland College are seeking an education where they can live, learn, and become a part of the natural environment. Located near Lake Superior in Ashland, this Wisconsin School is close to the Chequamegon National Forest, which is about a million acres.

There are 700 students who attend this liberal arts college. The student-faculty ratio is about 13 to 1 and 84 percent of the faculty earned a doctorate or other terminal degrees. Almost 98 percent of students receive financial aid and 86 percent of students are employed through campus employment.

The Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute is a campus gem. This institute provides outreach and educational information to people who live near Lake Superior. The Institute was formed to protect the environment and sponsors several guest speakers and program studies. Not only are students environmental activists, they play also play sports. Men can play varsity soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball, cross country, and Nordic skiing. Women can play varsity volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, cross country ,and Nordic skiing.

Northland College started in 1906. The people who formed the college were active members of the Congregational Church and today, a close relationship is between Northland College and the Congregational Church's successor, the United Church of Christ. The College is open to people of all faiths and traditions.

Northland College has a variety of degrees, from traditional choices such as accounting, chemistry, or history. Students can major in anything from Outdoor Education, Peace-Conflict-Global Studies, or Meterology.
