For more than 30 years Northwest Indian College has served the Native American residents of Washington State. Originally founded as the Lumni Indian School of Aquaculture, this community college later changed its name to Northwest Indian College in order to better serve other tribes. Today, the school stands as a comprehensive two-year institution of higher learning whose students come hail from more than 90 Native American tribes.

Situated on the Lumni Indian Reservation, Northwest Indian College offers students the chance to earn anything from an award of competency or certificate, to an associate degree or bachelor's degree. Covering such subjects as native environmental science, the technical arts, Native American studies, and computer repair, this Washington Community College instructs more than 1,200 students each year.

For students who are unable to attend class on-campus, this Washington College offers a variety of distance learning opportunities. From video conferencing and Internet classes, to independent learning -- wherein students receive personal instruction and attention from a teacher via e-mail and telephone -- Northwest Indian College has an educational solution for most any student. The Community College's Math and Writing Center also aids students in learning and understanding basic subjects.
