Northwest-Shoals Community College
800 George Wallace Blvd.
Muscle Shoals, AL 35661
As a two-year institution of higher learning,
Northwest-Shoals Community College has served the community in various forms since the 1960s. Originally known as Joe Wheeler State Trade School, this
community college has its roots in technical and career education. Since then the school has grown and merged with
Northwest Community College's Phil Campbell campus, becoming the comprehensive
Community College that it is today.
Now with two campuses -- one in Muscle Shoals and the other in Phil Campbell -- this Alabama community college offers everything from continuing education and certificate programs to associate degree programs. Students may choose to study such subjects as registered
nursing, emergency medical services, child development, computer information systems, welding, music, and English.
Students who are unable to attend class on either of Northwest-Shoals Community College's two campuses, can choose instead to enroll in distance education courses. These classes allow students to learn via the Internet, telecourses, or teleweb instruction. With the exception of blended courses, which require students to visit campus for on-site labs or presentations, distance education courses allow students to learn entirely from the comfort of their own home, office, or local library.
