Founded in 1871, more than 3,600 students are enrolled in Ohio Northern University's five colleges, which are arts and sciences, business Administration, Pharmacy and Law, and engineering. This Ohio University is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The student to faculty ratio is approximately 13 to 1.

There are more than 70 majors for students to choose from at Ohio Northern University, including advertising design, clinical laboratory science, or forensic biology. There's also a variety of field experiences, leadership development, and community service for students to participate in. The campus is located in Ava (pop. 5,000) on approximately 300 acres.

There are more than 150 student organizations for students to participate in at Ohio Northern University. With more than 20 varsity sports, the Polar Bears are part of the NCAA Division III-Ohio Athletic Conference.
