The Ohio State School of Cosmetology is a Professional School of cosmetology with five locations in and around the Columbus, Ohio area. The schools are part of Salon Schools Group and was established in 1935 by Beatrice and Mary Bustin. The school has changed owners and changed names, but has had the same management for over 40 years and has grown to the largest beauty school group in Ohio. The Ohio State School of cosmetology today has several programs in barber styling, Nail Technology, spa and esthetics.

Students attending the Ohio State School of Cosmetology can complete the 1800-hour
cosmetology program in as little as 14 months. The cosmetology program is taught at four of the Ohio State School of Cosmetology's locations. The Karl Road facility offers a full program in Africentric beauty, including chemical hair straightening, marcelling and hot combs, weaving, hair extensions and hair braiding.

The Spa School, which is the fifth school in the Ohio State School of Cosmetology consortium is designed to teach the most up-to-date and state of the art practices used in spas today. The relaxing atmosphere of the school mirrors the environment found in most spas. The Spa School teaches students the arts of cosmetology, esthetics and nail technology. Students enroll in the same 1800-hour cosmetology program, as well as adding the managing esthetics, one 750-hour comprehensive program in esthetics. In the managing manicuring/nail technology program, students spend 300 hours learning the art of nail application, manicure and pedicures. In both of these courses, students learn the management, as well as technical aspect of these professions. As well, The Spa School is a functioning spa for students to use their skills hands-on with real clients.

Prospective students applying to the Ohio State School of Cosmetology would find coursework in people skills, anatomy and science helpful, but there are no admission requirements to enter the Ohio State School of Cosmetology.
