When the university began in 1950 as Central Christian College, enrollment was around 90 students. Since then, Oklahoma Christian college has expanded to serve more than 2,400 students on two campuses. The mission at this Oklahoma school is to provide "a higher learning community that transforms lives for Christian faith, leadership, and service."

Oklahoma Christian university is situated on more than 240 acres, located in northeast Oklahoma City. This gives students a chance to enjoy a variety of cultural and recreational activities that the state's capital can offer.

There are more than 100 full-time faculty members, all of whom are Christian. More than 70 percent of these faculty members have earned terminal degrees. The student to faculty ratio is about 15 to 1 and about 70 percent of classes have less than 30 students. The school is affiliated with the Churches of Christ, but welcomes students of all denominations.

Students have a variety of academic choices, with more than 30 majors and 30 areas of study. Academic departments are included in three colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Professional Studies, and the College of Biblical Studies. For graduate students, degrees include the Master of Arts in Ministry, the Master of business Administration, and the Master of Divinity.

Oklahoma Christian University ranked in the top 50 of most unwired college campuses by Intel Corporation. Every full-time student receives an Apple laptop computer and their choice of an iPhone or iTouch. Wireless Internet is available throughout the campus. The Information Technology's Help desk provides 24/7 online support and helps students with computer issues.

About 60 percent of students are involved in ministry and service opportunities. Spring and summer break is a time for students and faculty to spread the gospel all over the world. Teams go from Kenya to New Zealand and also do a variety of service programs through the United States. Oklahoma Christian University also has a partnership with Western Village Elementary, an "at-risk" school. Since the partnership, test scores have risen for students.
