In 1909, the Oklahoma State Legislature created Oklahoma Panhandle State University to be an agriculture institute that would teach students agricultural methods. Now, this Oklahoma school has grown to offer students a variety of coursework and academic opportunities.

Oklahoma Panhandle State University is created from six different schools that range from agriculture to business administration. Programs of study include about 100 baccalaureate and associate degrees. There are several pre-professional programs for students to choose from.

Oklahoma Panhandle State University offers more than 100 different undergraduate degrees. In the School of Agriculture, students can earn the Bachelor of Science in vocational agricultural education, agronomy, animal science, or agribusiness. Business students can choose from one of five degrees, from accounting to industrial technology. After receiving a degree from the School of Education, students can be prepared to teaching anything from pre-school students to high school seniors. The School of liberal arts gives students a chance to explore a variety of curriculum, such as art and music. The Science, Math, and nursing students can choose classes that involve anything from physics to mathematics. A two-year program for an Associate of Science degree in general Studies with a concentration in science is also offered at this school.

Finding a career after graduation is central to a student's education at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. An academic center gives students a chance to improve their resume and discuss their future career with counselors. The center also helps students develop a career plan and provides assistance with job searching. Career fairs are also held on a regular basis at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

Oklahoma Panhandle State University is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges. It is also a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the Oklahoma system of higher education. It is managed by the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges.
