The Oklahoma
School of Photography (OSOP) trains students in the art of
photography and digital imaging. Graduates of OSOP are prepared for professional careers as photographers, studio owners, lab technicians, digital imagists, photographic restoration artists, desktop publishers, graphic designers, illustrators and more. There are two courses of study at OSOP, digital imaging and photography. Students in the photography course learn the technical skills they need to know to be a professional photographer. Upon graduation, they are prepared for freelance work as well as for jobs in studios or with other employers. The digital imaging program focuses on preparing students to work with printers, publishers or other employers that are looking to hire qualified graphic artists.
The photography course at
Oklahoma school of Photography covers topics such as exposure and lighting controls, studio shooting, product photography, wedding photography, darkroom use and color printing. Students in the digital imaging course learn how to use software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe ImageReady, Adobe Acrobat and QuarkXPress. Both courses take about nine months to complete. Students are required to be in class 24 hours per week. Day and evening schedules are available.
The
Oklahoma school of Photography has been training students for professional careers in photography since 1972. The program in digital imaging was added in 1997. This addition helped to bring the school's curriculum in line with industry trends by educating students about advertising layout and design, computerized art, image manipulation and graphic design. Oklahoma school of Photography is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). Qualified students may be able to receive financial aid to help them pay for educational expenses.
