The Oregon Graduate Institute School of Science and technology is one of four schools that is part of the Oregon and Health and Science University. This Oregon school is dedicated to educating students and doing quality research in science and engineering.

There are several departments for students to start their areas of study. The Department of Biomedical Engineering is based on integrating disciplines of clinical science, basic biomedical science, and engineering. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to start careers in an academic setting, industries, and government. The Department of Computer Science and electrical Engineering is known for its research on machine learning, pattern recognition, and statistical signal processing. The Department of Environmental and Biomolecular Systems gives students a chance to learn about the chemical, biological, and physical processes that happen when people interact with the environment. The Department of Science and Technology is a gap-builder between those students who want to earn a traditional M.B.A, but are also interested in engineering-management programs. It is mainly geared for students who have more than seven years of work experience and is technology-focused.

On campus, Oregon Graduate Institute School of Science and Technology has several modern buildings, filled with spacious laboratories, along with faculty and administrative offices and a research library. The school is about 12 miles west of downtown Portland, known as Silicon Forest because of the high-tech industries in the neighborhood, including Intel's largest development facility, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, FEI Company, and Planar Systems.

The metro area of Portland has a population of about 1 million people. It also features an extensive park system, including Forest Park, which is the largest wilderness park within the limits of any city in the country. Students can take advantage of visiting the zoo, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and several art galleries and museums.
