Founded in 1953 as a means of preparing engineers for work in the aircraft and civil engineering industries, the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology has grown from a one-classroom school in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, to a comprehensive Technical College that boasts a 14-acre campus in Media, Pennsylvania and an educational center in downtown Philadelphia.

As a two-year institution of higher learning, the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology has devoted itself to serving the needs of its students. Towards this end, the Pennsylvania community college provides a variety of disciplines and levels of learning. In addition to certificate programs in the allied health field (e.g. practical nursing and medical assisting) and the information technology industry (e.g. Microsoft certified systems engineering), the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology gives students the option of earning either an associate in applied science degree or an associate in science degree.

Associate degree programs are available in everything from medical office management technology, mechanical engineering technology, and computer-aided design technology to business administration technology, computer and communication technology, and Web design technology/e-business.
