Philander Smith College, established in 1877, is a historically black comprehensive institution offering undergraduate programs in a variety of disciplines. Areas of study include the arts and humanities, the social sciences, the natural and physical sciences and more.

The Philander Smith College campus is located in the scenic town of Little Rock in Arkansas. The Philander Smith campus spans more than 23 acres that is home to numerous state-of-the-art facilities accessible to students. Among them are the Donald W. Reynolds Library, which offers numerous collections, including a Teacher education Development/Children's Collection, more than 60,000 print volumes, online databases and many additional resources. Other facilities include the Harry R. Kendall Science and Health Mission Center, the Kresge-Mabee Science Building and others.

Students can take advantage of a diverse range of both on-and-off campus activities at the Philander Smith College. Among them are minor league sports as well as intramural sports. Students can also take advantage of Philander Smith College's men's and women's sports programs which include men's basketball, women's basketball and others. Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas, is located near the Ouachita Mountains and features numerous restaurants, art galleries and more in the River Market District. Students can enjoy attractions in Little Rock including the Clinton Presidential Library, the Arkansas Art Center and much more. Student can also take advantage of many recreational activities in the cities surrounding environments.
