Phillips Hairstyling Institute has been in operation for more than 25 years, educating students in the art and science of hair, skin and nails. Laboratory work with visual aids is combined of textbook study so that Phillips students can learn about the latest trends in hair design and
cosmetology. In addition, beauty industry educators visit the Phillips Hairstyling Institute campus every month to teach students about new hair styling products and techniques. There is an emphasis on developing good work habits and encouraging self-reliance, helpfulness and an ethical approach to the
cosmetology profession. Unique activities include a special classroom at the New York State Fair every year. Phillips students provide hair cuts, hair styling and manicures to more than 2,000 fairgoers as part of this annual, hands-on experience. They also get free admission to and parking at the fair.
Both full-time and part-time courses of study are available at Phillips Hairstyling Institute.
cosmetology students can opt for a full-time day, full-time night or part-time weekend schedule. Students interested in focusing on nail art and technology can complete a part-time evening course in less than 12 weeks. Cosmetology courses can be completed in as few as 36 weeks.
Phillips Hairstyling Institute provides a placement service for both students and alumni, and job seeking and communication skills are covered during the course of study. Phillips Hairstyling students also get the chance to go on mock interviews at salons, and jobs openings are posted on campus and mailed to graduates. The director of the school and instructors also provided individualized job placement assistance to students. Financial aid in the form of student loans and Pell Grants is available to qualified students.
