Piedmont College is a liberal arts-based college affiliated with the Congregational churches of America. The college is headquartered at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Demorest, Georgia, with a second campus located about 70 miles north of Atlanta in Athens.

Piedmont has its roots in northeast Georgia dating back to 1897, when the Rev. Charles Spence, a Methodist minister, founded the J.S. Green Collegiate Institute in the dusty frontier town of Demorest. The college then took all ages of students - from first graders to college juniors.

The school enrolled 367 students that first year - who came from all over the state for an education. In 1903, the name was changed to Piedmont College. One of Piedmont's goals is to be known as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the Southeast.

Piedmont currently offers more than 35 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in education and business and enrolls more than 2,000 students each year. Piedmont College offers both on campus and off campus housing options. The college offers a variety of dorms on both campuses.

The college offers students a variety of activities in which to participate, including academic clubs, honor societies and athletics. Students may also work for the campus radio station, WRFP.
